Manage system lists (dropdown lists)

In LogAlto, what we call System lists are lists that can serve different purposes:

  • They can be used to manage options in dropdown lists in various LogAlto forms (like the project form, activity form, etc.)
  • They can be used to manage indicators disaggregations 
  • They can be used as templates for dropdown lists that are added to forms

This article presents how to:

  1. Open the configuration panel for a list that needs to be modified
  2. Create a new system list (dropdown list)
  3. Add an option to a system list (dropdown list)
  4. Edit an option of a system list (dropdown list)
  5. Remove an option from a system list (dropdown list)
  6. Allow to use a system list for the disaggregation of indicators
  7. Assign a number to each option (Numbered list)
  8. Assign a color to each option
  9. Assign an icon to each option
  10. Assign an abbreviation to each option

Create a new list

  • Click the "gear" icon in the top menu
  • Click "Manage system lists"
  • The list of all system lists will appear
  • Click the pen icon next to the list that needs to be modified
  • Click the + button
  • Enter the name of the list 
  • If necessary, check the checkboxes to assign a color, icon, number or abbreviation to each option
  • Add options to the list using the "Add item" button
  • Click "Save"


Open the configuration panel for a list that needs to be modified

Open the list configuration panel:

  • Click the "gear" icon in the top menu
  • Click "Manage system lists"
  • The list of all system lists will appear
  • Click the pen icon next to the list that needs to be modified
  • The "Edit list items" panel will appear

Add an option to a system list (dropdown list)

  • Open the list configuration panel (steps explained in the 2nd section of this article)
  • Click the "Add item" button (Below the list of options)
  • Enter the text for the option (if your platform is multilingual, you must enter it in all available languages)
  • Click "Ok"
  • Some lists have colors, numbers, icons or abbreviations assigned to each option. If that is the case, you should edit these information for the added option.
  • Click "Save"

Edit an option of a system list (dropdown list)

  • Open the list configuration panel (steps explained in the 2nd section of this article)
  • Click on the option that needs to be
  • Enter the text for the option (if your platform is multilingual, you must enter it in all available languages)
  • Click "Ok"
  • Some lists have colors, numbers, icons or abbreviations assigned to each option. If that is the case, you should edit these information for the added option.
  • Click "Save"

Remove an option from a system list (dropdown list)

  • Open the list configuration panel (steps explained in the 2nd section of this article)
  • Click the trash can icon next to the option that needs to be removed (this cannot be undone)
  • Click "Save"

Allow to use a system list for the disaggregation of indicators

When disaggregating your indicator, you will see that you have two options:

  1. You can either select from the list of existing disaggregation
  2. Or you can add a new one.

When you create a new disaggregation, it is created for your project only. It will become a project list that you will be able to manage through the “Manage project lists" option of the project menu.

When you select an existing disaggregation, you will be able to select a system list or a project list.

To allow tu use a list for the disaggregation of indicators:

  • Open the list configuration panel (steps explained in the first section of this article)
  • Check the "Usable as a disaggregation in indicators" checkbox
  • Click "Save" 

Assign a number to each option (Numbered list)

  • Open the list configuration panel (steps explained in the 2nd section of this article)
  • Check the "Associate a numeric value" checkbox
  • For each option, assign (enter) a numeric value
  • Click "Save" 

Assign a color to each option

  • Open the list configuration panel (steps explained in the 2nd section of this article)
  • Check the "Associate a color" checkbox
  • For each option, assign (select) a color
  • Click "Save" 

Assign an icon to each option

  • Open the list configuration panel (steps explained in the 2nd section of this article)
  • Check the "Associate an icon" checkbox
  • For each option, assign (select) an icon
  • Click "Save" 

Assign an abbreviation to each option

  • Open the list configuration panel (steps explained in the 2nd section of this article)
  • Check the "Associate an abbreviation" checkbox
  • For each option, assign (enter) an abbreviation
  • Click "Save"
